Our community resources section has been put together to assist those in need, across a wide array of both public and private social services. By providing several directories, we strive to make it easy for people to quickly find the assistance they need from their local organizations. (Use the Red Links to learn more).

Our community resources are broken down into two sub categories.

1 Government programs that include Federal and State based assistance.

2 Private programs that include Catholic Charities, National Diaper Banks, Baby Supplies, Patient Assistance, The Corporate Angel Network & more.

To keep up to date on our latest programs & free stuff we recommend you Join our Facebook Group

Government Programs

In our Government Programs section you will find access to the details of various Government Benefits, Grants & Loans programs. Areas covered include help finding an affordable home, general benefits programs, financial aide for students, food assistance, help with bills, retirement and social security FAQ's.

While you may be familiar with most of these benefits, it's worth checking them out to make sure you are not missing out on a program you are eligible for.

State Benefits

Our State Benefits community resources section provides information on more than 1,200 Federal and State benefits programs across all fifty states. Areas covered include food assistance, head start programs, healthy start programs, home energy assistance, medicaid, school breakfast & lunch programs, special milk programs, special supplemental nutrition program for WIC, summer food service, unemployment compensation, weatherization assistance and works first, (financial assistance portion of Temporary Assistance to Needy Families - TANF)

Use the link to learn more and see what help you may be entitled to from your own State.

Area Agencies on Aging

If you are older than 60 or disabled, you may be entitled to free or low-cost home and yard maintenance and moving help.

If you’re struggling to maintain your home, it may be possible to obtain help with all those household tasks that have become difficult or impossible to cope with. Under the auspices of the Older Americans Act, many Area Agencies on Aging offer help with household chores as part of the umbrella of services they offer to help people live independently in their homes.

Other Community Resources offered by the Government

There are many other lesser known community resources offered by the government. They include:

Eldercare - The Eldercare Locator is a nationwide service that connects older Americans and their caregivers with trustworthy local support resources. Since 1991, the Eldercare Locator has been linking those who need assistance with state and local agencies on aging, as well as community-based organizations that serve older adults and their caregivers. Use the link to find your local office.

Social Security payments to dependent's - Widows and widowers, children, and other dependents of a social security recipient are eligible to receive Government Benefits of monthly payments based on the social security recipient’s work history. Many people miss out on this benefit so it's worth checking out.

Free Cell Phone - You can get a free cell phone and free monthly minutes through the Federal Lifeline Assistance Program. This free government benefit was created to ensure that everyone has access to affordable cell phone service in order to find jobs, access health care services, connect with family and their children’s schools, and call for help in an emergency.

Shoes for Diabetics - Anyone with diabetes who’s eligible for Medicare Part B can get Government Benefits that provide you with custom-made shoes and inserts.

Free Rides - People with mobility problems and seniors can get transportation to and from your home to appointments and activities.

Free Credit Check - This is one of the better community resources that more people should take advantage of. Everyone is eligible to three credit reports per year at no cost. Don’t get sucked in by the offers from for-profit credit repair companies; you can monitor your credit and fix any problems without spending a dime. One of the ways the government helps us protect ourselves from fraud is by offering a free yearly credit check.

Private Programs

In our private programs section you will find several community resources that have been set up to help you in areas where there is no government assistance available. Again, we provide you with directories to help you locate your local organizations quickly and easily.

Catholic Charities - Emergency Help for Families

Catholic Charities consists of more than 160 agencies across all 50 States and beyond. Each agency provides a unique array of social services based on the needs of its community. Emergency help for families facing emergency situations can be found at Catholic Charities across the USA. National Diaper Bank

Baby Supplies For Families In Need

Baby2Baby launched its national expansion through the creation of the Baby2Baby National Network with the goal of serving more low-income children. If you cannot afford to buy your own baby supplies, you may be able to get assistance from the Baby2Baby organization. While this is not a true national network you can use the link to find out if there's a local organization in your area.

Merck Patient Assistance Programs

At Merck, they believe that no one should go without the medicines or vaccines they need. That is why the company provides its medicines and adult vaccines for free to people who do not have prescription drug or health insurance coverage and who, without their assistance, cannot afford their Merck medicines and vaccines. This is consistent with Merck’s long-held values and traditions of putting patients first. Merck created their first US Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs) to keep affordable medicines within patients’ reach. Today, their patient assistance offerings include several programs. Use the link to learn more.
